If it has all the features as advertised it would seem to be worth the money.
However, as with all second hand cars it needs a good coat of looking at.--- |

It's not a factory duotone car, the missing four years MOT are due to it being off the road in Prof Dave's tenure of ownership, and the MOT it currently wears...........well I shall say I have my doubts, as it was driven across to my place piddling out fuel from leaking o rings on the fuel rail, fresh, as in wet underseal on the sills, and with a variety of faults that would have precluded all but the most lenient of "Stevie Wonder" tests.
ABS and traction control fault SRS DCU defective, along with both side impact sensors EWS "modified" with extra relays and wiring to allow the car to be started........in gear IPK that originated from a Mk2, wasn't coded to the car, at least until I got my hands on it So if you fancy a Starlight Silver car, with a coat of blue in places, with 150k on the clock, and an MOT not worth the paper it was written on, then this is the car for you VIN is SARRJZTLM3D273167 Vehicle Information vin RJZTLM3D273167 vin_sequence 273167 off_assembly_date Wednesday, 30th October 2002 @ 08:46:13 model 75 Tourer variant 2.5 V6 Connoisseur num_doors 5 paint_code MBB brochure_model_desc R75 C3 Tourer 2.5 KV6 (177) sales_model_derivative RJZTL sales_model_derivative_desc Rover 75 2.5 V6 Connoisseur Tourer home_export HOME country GREAT BRITAIN exterior_paint Starlight Silver interior_trim Ash / Light smokestone engine 2500 NA 177Bhp trimlevel Connoisseur bodytype 5DR manual_auto A hand_of_drive RHD model_year 2003 sold_date Unknown General Information This vehicle was the 15,438th 75 Tourer to run off the production line, out of 27,407 This vehicle was the 365th 75 Tourer 2.5 V6 Connoisseur to be made out of 456 This vehicle was the 649th 75 Tourer in Starlight Silver (code: MBB) to be made out of 4,100 Starlight Silver 75 Tourers |

I think you'll find it is Brian .....I'd need to double check the reg, but I have photos of the car sitting on the Longbridge factory used car forecourt when I visited in 2003, to see my brand new Tourer going down the production line.
Can't believe the factory would have been selling a 75, less than 12 months old, that an 'outsider' had duotoned ??? I sent the pics across to Prof Dave a few years ago, so 99.9% certain it's the same car

Nearly 3 years ago 2 members were after this car. Me and a now banned member. He won but then failed to pay. I got Dave's other car the Royal Blue V6 Contemporary which has recently gone to the great scrap yard in the sky. Lovely car but suffered recently with engine problems. Genuine duotone or not, I was keen to make it LPG and keep it. Looks like I dodged a bullet?

Well, I've found the photo (...which I can't seem to load ) and it is the same car, pictured for sale on the 'Approved Used' display at the Longbridge factory, around mid April 2003
At this time, it would have been just under 6 months old. If MacNeillie were the factory authorized bodyshop that was used by Rover to duo-tone any new vehicle orders prior to registration, then although the car may have had the Chagall paint applied away from the actual Longbridge building, I think we can safely class this as a factory duo-tone (irrespective of the chassis plate colour code). Otherwise Brian, we're effectively saying that no 'factory' duo-tones were ever made ! It's highly likely that the plate refers to the original colour the bodyshell was painted (Starlight Silver) and it was later decided, after the build had gone 'fixed' (i.e. spec cannot normally be changed) that someone in the factory decided to use that particular shell for the Chagall two-toning.

Also, factory Duo tones had a vin plate with a single paint paint code. The Duo tone I at one time owned had the single paint code JFM Royal Blue. The factory produced Duo tones were completed on the production in the upper body colour and then taken to a sub contractor to have the lower body colour added. The Monogram paint finish was completed at Longbridge. Here is the entrance to the Monogram paint shop. Dave T |
