I can only think it has something to do with the airworthiness of the plane or the qualifications of the pilot |

That's my take on it as well.

True - but as the plane came down in the Channel off the Dorset Coast it is the Dorset Police investigating and our local news has previously stated that the aircraft was based in the North of England.

No, I could be wrong but I doubt that airworthiness will be the main factor if any at all in this latest development. From the off the legality of the sortie and the pilot to fly it have been questioned and I suspect that it is this what might be behind it.
It might have been a better outcome if the sortie had commenced as originally planned in the morning when the pilot would likely have fared much better given that I think he was essentially qualified as a day flyer only and with no apparent instrument rating. Breaches of other rules and regulations might well come to light but I suspect that the licensing and suitability of the pilot to fly the sortie will feature uppermost at the end of the day. I don't envy whoever engaged him for the job. |

Probably the person who ok'd/cleared/accepted that particular pilot for that job. Especially as the pilot didn't have the license for fee paying customers.

Terrible tradegy really and the whole thing was so avoidable. With all the money sloshing around in football what on earth were they thinking of when hiring a tiny plane. Makes you wonder what the agents knew as well. Waste of 2 lives
