Default Weird background

I'd be interested in what folks think about a car with this history.

A 2002 that's just crept over 19,000 miles, though it covered 11,000 miles in its first three years. So in 14 years since it's only driven 8,000 miles.

In 2015 it failed its MoT on rusted rear sub frame, broken front suspension and a handbrake that didn't work. The very next day, with no additional miles it passed with no advisories.

Then in 2016 with just a further 207 miles on the clock it failed again on rusted rear sub frame, handbrake issues and front and rear suspension bushes. Again it passed the very next day, with 3 miles added and no advisories.

It wasn't tested in 2017, but in 2018 it failed again, with only 101 miles added in 21 months. It failed on its handbrake, for the third time in four years and three tests. It also failed on corroded front and rear suspension mounts. Four days later with no added miles it passed.

Again, it wasn't tested in 2019 and passed with no advisories in September 2020, having added 326 miles in 17 months.

Apparently that last test was carried out by the selling dealer after a session through their workshops. They are a well established dealership with a decent reputation and substantial workshop facilities and experience on the marque.

The only way to tell if it’s any good is to either go and see it yourself on a ramp, or get one of our well known guru’s on here to have a gander at it. Where is it ? Name of area only not address.

All sounds a bit odd but as has been said the only way forward is to give it good once over.

Doubtless teaching granny to suck eggs but the first page of this thread will be helpful:

Good luck with the search.

A 'remote inspection' sounds a very good idea, though under lockdown I doubt if even that's allowed.

And here, before I get into deep water I'd better admit it's not a 75/ZT, but an MG TF. In fact, this one https://trophycars.co.uk/carsforsale...p,1yr-warranty On the A1 midway between Stamford and Grantham, which looks like no man's land as far as potential viewer coverage is concerned. There aren't too many Stepspeed TF's about but as Mrs SDA will only drive auto's that's what we have to buy.
