Warning egg sucking lesson for my mother's mother!

You do realise the dash light doesn't come on until you are moving and activated cruise?

End egg sucking lesson

Well nothing really done to my car, but went for a wee 300 mile jaunt down to see Brian and Dave in Newcastle with my brother and he came back up the road with daves old ZTT, also met up with Ashok while Brian was in testing his car, God I would love to spend a day picking his brains lol

According to the handbook 28 MPH is the minimum operational speed.
However, it doesn't specify if that is 28 analogue or 28 digital

I fitted a new rear wheel bearing an a new clock spring so now after owning the car for eight years the steering wheel radio controls finally work. I then went to the scrappy and picked up a real wood dash. I had a choice of 2 but the other one was a lot darker and would not match the wood wheel.

Yep - tried it out on the road at about 40-ish but no joy. Rain stopped play today, so guess it will have to wait until next weekend now.

So over the past few months I've been slowly changing the look of my car.

Bought the car in Feb 2014 as a daily run around and as a temporary "go between" as I looked for other cars. However, driving it day in day out, I just can't fault the car and has served me well and continues to do so. So I decided to fix it up and make it look half decent as it had quite a few issues with it.

Mechanically, the car is sound, issues were just with body work.

So this is the car before (as a facelift)

You can see how messed up the bumper was, plus the bonnet was bent and would not line up properly.

This is how the car looks now

I always liked the look of the pre facelifts, so went for that look. Along at the same time, decided to buy the excellent Klaarzy lights (full quad dipped beams and angel eyes).

Also managed to get a new bonnet for a tenner!

I then moved onto the engine department. Mechanically the engine was fine, just looked grubby. So gave it a full clean with some Muc Off de-greaser and polished up the pipes. I've also painted the engine cover, the fuse box cover, the plenum covers and the top of the water bottle all in a nice silvery grey then lacquered them. Don't have pics at the moment, will post some up tomorrow.

Plan is to also spray paint the battery cover the same and everything that is black, respray it in a nice satin black.

I've also bypassed the air filter inlet completely and gone for a cold air intake of sorts (copied someone here )

It may not be to everyone's taste, but I like the sound the exhaust makes now

Also added a rear view camera along with new badges

However, in adding this camera I realised that I would not be able to see an image as I have a tablet installed and not a proper screen.

So I bought a cheap 3.5" LCD screen off eBay and then disassembled my dash to remove the middle passenger side air vent.

Took the vent down to my guy that does all of my ICE installs and gave it to him. Basically told him to fix a square screen in a round hole.

Now he's good with his stuff, really good. So I'm just anxious as to what he'll do to make it fit. Again will post pics once done.

Next Saturday I'm also getting the 190 brake upgrade done.
Bought some calipers from Tom on the forum

Also getting the car fully detailed next Sunday by a guy I found on Gumtree advertsing his services. He's also got a FB page and the cars that he's done look good. Plus price was decent.

Default What I did today

After 2 years of owning the v6 thought I would do the brim to brim test.
Today was the day of the results to come in.
Dash says I'm doing 25 mpg
Test says 21mpg.
That's round town driving and short distance only 10 mile runs to work and the same back
So not to bad for a old banger
