Default No fuel - KV6

Car left parked up for 6 weeks, after which a non-starter. Lack of fuel suspected so removed Schraeder cap, depressed pin, and turned on ignition. I think I can hear a pump running, but no petrol appeared.
Suggestions appreciated as where to start looking for a likely failure. I might add it's a 2001 car so will likely predate the fuel filter 'yellow clip' (certainly hope so as the rear of this tourer is full of body and trim parts from my current daily user 75).

Fault codes? If not diagnostics available, lift the rear seat, note on the plug to the fuel pump the location of a black wire (earth) and white/purple (plus) remove the plug and apply power to the pump directly. Should hear the pump, try starting.

Regards

Thanks. I do have a pscan but did not know if this could diagnose a fuelling fault.
And yes, checking supply and powering the pump directly is the logical way to go.
Next job is to tow the car from a steep narrow lane to a piece of level ground for access. Steep ground did give this problem once before but with a quater tank showing on the gauge this should not now be the issue.

A 2001 model is certainly within the 'orange clip' slot, so if the fuel pump is running, I'd suggest taking a look at the filter. Once you get the floor hatch (on the LHS) open you'll be able to see the filter module top. With no further dismantling, this will tell you if Fuel Filter Syndrome (FFS) is possible. It does have the hallmarks.
