New brushes, custom-made for our motors thanks to input from me and Greeners, can be bought inexpensively from Engineering Carbon Products Ltd. in Croydon (ignore the incorrect reference to "heater"). Look for Arctic's excellent pictorial guide to the renewal process. The repair is successful, rewarding and long-lasting provided that the commutator has not suffered damage. I'd say that's very unlikely with your diesel since the fan will no longer run after the worn brush lost contact. Simon
