With Merkel no longer visibly in politics, Macron is demonstrably the leading statesman in Europe.

Macron will be together with the German chancellor, the leading leader of the EU. Surely BoJo is now up there as a leading world statesman.

Given that Macron is in the gift of Germany, and the given French history of being, well, to put it politely, affectedly superciliant, it is odds on that whoever eventually succeeds what’s- her-name in Germany will assume the gift of supremacy or at least consider the advantages of a studied judicial independence.
That means each of them struggling to rise to the top EU-wise, ergo diplomatic confusion if not direct struggle. That could easily lead to an inevitable conflict in the already struggling EU. Given the prejudiced volte face of the police concerning Starmer’s current difficulty over partygate, BJ will triumph in HoC. Therefore, obviously, BJ will be the only legitimate leader of a relatively independent country and, given his huge majority, will not be subject to eternal internal conflict. Nothing breeds confidence more than a big majority, both domestically and, in this case, continentally. Q.E.D.

He did look the part dressed like one of us! Although I should point out that most of us do not dress like that any more - we dress more like the Sahibs and our females more like the Mem-Sahibs. Ronnie Barker dressed like an Indian was far more impressive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFJ3aWlyGDI I do like the comedy in this section of the forum!

I felt embarrassed at the recent NATO meeting. All the world leaders looking immaculate, Boris looked like he'd just fallen out of bed having slept in his suit.
