Default Replacing my iPad - recommendations

After nearly 4 years of using an iPad mini, I知 thinking of switching to android. Having recently changed from an iPhone to android I知 enjoying a much better experience and I知 guessing a new tablet would also be better?
The market is full of tablets, notebooks and laptops. Obviously there are other operating systems as well as android depending on what machine you buy.

With such a huge market what on earth do you buy?
Uses are:-
Browsing the internet
Sending emails
Creating invoices (I知 now self employed)
I知 going to have to get a printer as I知 finding my trips to the library to use theirs or my Daughters is getting a bit much now.

I知 also thinking of a larger screen which makes a tablet pointless.
Budget is about 」500 max.

Recommendations welcome as well as good and bad experiences! Thanks.

6 months ago I bought a refurb Fujitsu Lifebook Series A laptop for just 」180 (Win 10) off eBay. Excellent. Comes with g'tee. Already loaded with most of programmes I want. Suggest then get a Brother Laser printer (B & W). Dirt cheap and toner cartridges last for ages also cheap money. Quick print and never go wrong. Get toner off eBay: many suppliers.

Your recommendations were spot on. Just bought a HP Elite Book 840 with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office.
I’ll keep the iPad as a mobile way to access the internet along with my phone. Grandchildren like using it too.
A lap top will do all the hard work for my business. I can create my new flyers and get them printed and laminated. I bought the laminator last week. Now to find a printer! Thanks.

Oh dear.
Laptop arrived with a cracked body.
They are replacing it immediately with a another one. No quibble.
