Some of these are mega tight - I've had one that was.

I too broke a 3/4 drive breaker bar so welded up the square drive in to a couple of bits of flat solid scrap and then slid a 5 foot length of scaffold over it.

Here it is with the home made locking tool for the pulley. Not very pretty but it worked, and in true GhettoTech style, cost nothing apart from a few welding rods.

Do the alternator 7 belt for the time being.

whats the alternator mounting bolt layout on the bottom lugs .

cos the old and new alternator have 10mm holes but the bolt are 8mm

and both alternators have a 10mm captive nut in the rear lug ??

Chris
Have you tried putting a large breaker bar on it, non-socket end on the floor, so roughly five o'clock, then flicking the engine over with the starter?

If you were a bit more local I would Chris.

Just looked at the last one I changed and yes it has clearance holes for 10mm nolts and the rear lug has a 10mm female thread.

I've done what is suggested with a long breaker bar and a flick of the starter.
Worked for me.
Just a flick with the starter tho.
Give the engine about a 1/4 turn if that.

I'm sure there is something that can be unplugged that will allow the engine to turn over and not start

But for the life of me can't remember what.
