I read up last night on the Typhoon out of interest Steve. It was one of the aircraft flown by a family friend during the war. It was dogged by technical problems in its development and after the war production stopped. Designed as a medium/high altitude fighter and bomber to counteract the Luftwafe's attacks against the Spitfire. Service ceiling 21,000 feet 412mph. In 1943, rockets were added to its armoury and it developed a reputation as a superior ground attack fighter, hence the reason for the white nose and black striped which was to aid ground defences in the UK in recognising it, it's wings had to be made thinner and stronger to cope with high speed dive attacks.....a fascinating aviation history
Morning Phil, always had a "soft spot" for the Typhoon, once it dropped into the ground attack role it was unequaled but because of its "idiosyncrasies" it never really had the recognition it deserved. The Napier Sabre engine was a beast, 24 cylinders, over 2000hp but it had its faults, namely trying to gas the pilot with carbon monoxide, the pilot had to use the oxygen mask from the moment the engine was started, it also had a habit of bursting into flames on start up if the carbs were overprimed! Occasionally they would backfire on start up and launch part of the air intake across the field!

Thank goodness there is an ignore button facility. I put 2 names down and no longer have to read their chest thumping, head butting pompous, faking intelligence dominated by their own Oedipus and castration fears blah blah... No one from the chill out lounge, I add

It does sometimes explain my ability to be thick skinned

20mm wing mounted cannons

The completed article which someone has mounted on a diorama.

Its not a cheap model but I'm very seriously tempted.

There is a change of pitch roughly where the landing gear sits.

Some peeps just don't warm to each other Jeff, so I think that if they used the ignore facility, there would be more harmony and fun on board

Can't argue with that Phil, I've seen quite a few narcissistic posts lately but I find them amusing so I've ignored the ignore button so far
