I had a ticking noise when we went to Germany when I had my 220sd. It was definitely coming from the front end. Not there all the while, only when going around 40 mph. When we got to my sons,I asked him to come out and listen to the noise. It was worse when I turned to the left. After about 15 minutes, and many slow manoeuvres, we found out it was the offside front wheel, which had split in the rib of the front wheel. About one inch long. Put the spare wheel on and thanked him above that nothing had happened while we were travelling at 70 mph on the autobahn.

Unhappy

Thank you to everyone who replied. It was the OSF wheel bearing which the local garage managed to sort.

My apologies if I appear to have ignored those who have replied. Whilst the car was in the garage, I damaged my phone while mountain biking and I could no longer access the internet.

On my return to the UK, I then contracted Covid (even though I have had all my jabs ) and it has taken it out of me.

So, thanks to everyone who replied and my apologies for the delay in replying to you all.

Yes. I ended up in hospital with Covid on my return to the UK.
