Any motor factor should be able to get you one or it's equivelant. It's for the Renault 5/ Clio 1.4 and is the type that fits inside the hose, not in a seperate housing.

Quinton Hazell equiv. QTH144

Cheers russ, just ordered one. I'm assuming you cut the top hose, push this thermostat in and secure with jubilee clips?

No need to cut the hose remove the clip on the top hose and slide the thermostat into the hose, bulb pointing toward the engine a bit of lubrication will help doesn't need securing it's a tight enough fit. re-fit the top hose and secure with a new hose clip.

How to here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=74451

Only difference being the stat being used as the Gates type stat requires no cutting to size.

The only difficult bit is removng the top hose clip as it has to be cut through, but otherwise that's it

That's the way I understand it. I hope it's right cos I ordered one for a tenner yesterday which arrived first thing this morning. I'm intending to fit it after work today.

Is there no way round having to cut through the hose clip? If not I'll need to get a new one before I attempt fitting the thermostat.

Afraid not it's machine pressed on and is a solid band not the usual crimp type.

Dremel or similar with a cutting disc is ideal for this.

Ah I see. So needs replacing with a jubillee clip? Do you know off hand what size? I'll get one on way home from work but can't get to car to measure it.

In the V6 at the moment so an't measure exactly, off the top of my head it's 50mm get a stainless clip that covers the 40mm - 55mm range and all should be well.
