To be honest I've never checked to see if the outputs reset to one voltage or the other from ignition on, or if you can reverse the polarity and they will still work.
In all the ABS faultfinding I have done I have had a couple of magnetic reluctors fail due to rust on the rear back plate, one sensor had lifted away due again to rust on the rear brake plate where it mounted, which increased the air gap slightly, and two sensors that were switching at double the voltage they should have and so confusing the system. They came fitted to the car after the previous owner had suffered the ABS light coming on and we're cheapies from Ebay. Also had a couple of front sensors fail and one front reluctor.
All the faults were easy enough to spot with a voltmeter, some chalk and a flying lead I made up from an old ABS plug and socket and some bell wire to save pinning through the ABS sensor cables.

thanks for the reply mike very much appreciated. what is not helping is the fact that the two blue abs plugs are missing and i wanted to check there was no volts drop through the wired tempory fix. i will rewire them again and check for the volts at the sensors input/output. again these sensors were from an ebay source fitted by a person unknown. even if the volt checks are good on the multimeter it may be giving varied output signals.best i think to out them and buy bosch or originals is the best move. without plugs its difficult to rewire the new sensors in as you cannot see which wire on the new sensors are for input and output . colours are different on these aftermarket ones.hence the question will the sensor work reversed polarity. just didnt want to damage the new sensors by wiring incorrectly. again thanks for your help. regards ..

This week I shall be mostly ordering more OBD2's from Amazon..

Upped the purse to 150 quids and got a scanner that has Rover in the menus.
in the sub menus it has long list of MGR cars inc ... 25,45,200,ZR ZS ZT etc ..f

It talks to the diesel auto, Inc the auto box and the ABS,

and all our other 5 different make cars , micra CVT , the Zeds, the Cmax, Golf Diesel .

It's a mucars cs4. its not a Bi directional unit

Will test it out a bit more before deciding

C

PS... Does not get on with well the 260 ...who'd have guessed

Well not in autoscan mode ,can't figure out if its an MGR or a Ford

but use the EODB menu and it reads a lot of the engine (27 functions) and also the ABS , about the same as the other scanners over 50 quid I've tried but with the ABS extra .

PS.2

The subscriptions are only for the items classed as advanced features and cost 30 dollars a year from their store accessed by the device menus ..

but for most people you don't need any of them ,E.G features such as ABS Bleeding , battery matching ( beemers).

You get the 4 most useful ones included free for a lifetime . ( thats the 4 in the name, they do a 6 as well for more cash .)
All the car make updates are free to download. even MG Rover . but probably not going to to be many of these .!

from this chart looks like the CS2 ( the cheapest is the one unless you want those extra features ? ) not needed on our cars here ..

if you can find one ?
