Brakefit discs
I ordered a pair of Blue Point rear discs for my "other" car and they have sent me "Brakefit" discs (an Apec Company it seems). Has anyone used them and are they OK? I am at the point of returning them to the supplier.

Hi Mike,
Yes, I have. The local motor factor I use supplies Apec brake parts. They are a great company; based in Bristol and you can talk technically with them on the phone. You need not have any worries. You will probably receive opposite opinions though. Brand loyalty and effective marketing plays a big part in the choice of brake parts. Simon

I hardly ever have to replace brakes on my cars (steady driver!) but wouldn't want one of those brands that break into pieces! I've done a bit of digging on the net but as you say, contrasting views. I have had a note from the supplier and they are the same quality (OEM standard) and carry the same warranty. They are also more expensive than the Blue point ones on their list! EDIT. I've opened the box and they appear to be very good and measure up OK.

Brakefit are absolutely fine - I've used them with no issues.

I assume it states in their advert they reserve the right to substitute with an alternative of the same or higher value?
Personally it annoys me when this happens. I expect to receive the item(s) I have ordered, not another persons decision. At the very least I would expect to be asked first so that I'm not put in the position of having to complain/return. I had Apec discs fitted to my ZT-T. They didn't break, but did warp early in service. Obviously I cannot guarantee the discs were absolutely to blame. I try and source TRW where possible. |
