Possible Damp Problem.
Diesel Tourer, is this a damp problem, possibly with the Light Switch Module (LSM)?
Turning the ignition on, the instrument panel lights come on, but go out once the engine has been started. Currently this is intermittent. Panel lights all work AOK, when switched on. This first happened (I believe) a couple of days ago. I thought I observed the above, switched the ignition off, restarted the engine – all was as normal. Today, an hour ago, it happened again. This time I was able to re-produce it, 3 times in quick succession. Drove the car home, no issues; Switched engine off, restarted it – problem did not reappear. The car does have a sunroof, but it has been sealed up for quite a while now. We have not had any rain for about a week, and the car is in daily use, including most evenings. I wonder if this is a specific recognised problem, or simply a typical damp issue. I would say that the car is dry inside. Comments welcomed. Regards Mike

Eventually the majority of the lights failed. You can see my account on the general forum and how it was eventually cured by Terry Shaw of TS Autos - much to my relief! All the best, Nicholas/Zircon |

I had the lights playing up too.--It was the connector pins in the LSM plug. Easy to get at.--I used WD 40 in the plug and on the pins. It cured it and has never re-appeared after many years of use now.--

Many thanks Nicholas / Zircon.
I have just read your excellent write up, and will certainly be guided by this. Similarly, assuming that I find something specific, I'll do the same. Regards Mike
