Default Two Hubs in Two Weeks

Giving the car an MOT precheck a couple of weeks ago I found the NSF wheel a tad more difficult to turn than the offside. Car subsequently failed on a bit of play in the offside hub which I'd missed so I replaced it. MOT tester happy and I got a ticket but I thought I'd take another look at the nearside. No play but it was definitely dragging and felt notchy when turning.

Jacked the car up today and went for a virtual drive. The nearside wheel stayed put and the offside was spinning twice as fast via the differential, so I wedged some wood under the offside. With the nearside only now spinning there was a bit of a rattle so removed the hub. I'll fit one tomorrow that I put a new bearing in and hopefully that should cure it and silence the rattle. If not then maybe the gearbox, which has now covered a tad shy of 420k miles. The driveshaft seems fine, but I can swap it out if required as I have a spare.

Fingers crossed it is the bearing. I'll keep you all posted.

Fitted the new bearing and happy days - rattle gone and everything now running as it should. ABS alarm was on as the front wheels were previously rotating at different speeds, but it went out once they were back on the tarmac.

Bit chilly working outside today though.
