remap ecu on ebay
see somone (with a t4) from one of the forums is selling a diesel ecu thats been remapped to 160hp and an ews with keys.
Will those items still work without the matching bcu in the car? |

It would "work". Hopefully your car is a MK1 manual (being an NNN100692). If it is an auto it would allow you to start in gear (which would be dangerous). And if your car currently has an NNN500340 you will lose the ability to use a standard OBD reader to read data and fault codes. Also your ZCS coding will be incorrect for the car (unless the car has the exact same spec, and exactly the same options). VIN will also be incorrect which will stop a T4 from being able to configure dealer options and things like that at a later date.
Best option is to get your current ECU remapped. If you have access to something to read and write the flash chip then this can be done without physical access to the ECU. TOAF can read and write it, but having never used it, I can't say how reliable it would be. |

Personally I would keep clear of that ECU, also its not cheap at £150 for something that is not really going to work as it should, there are a few people on here whom can help with an upgrade Big Russ, Jamie, Trikey, always go to the people who know is my opinion of cause MB would also have been on the list but we have lost that font of knowledge now

160 Diesel ecu
Hi,
i agree i would not bother messing about with a ecu with the wrong vin number and ews unit i had big Russ do the 160 remap on my Tourer it took less than half a hour and caused no conflics with the ecu codeing he also checked car with the T4 for problems at the same time |

only issue is im in australia ( no t4s here)
I rememder MB saying he could do it but needed the ecu and ews i think. Could send them to somone i suppose and put the car in the garage for a while. At the moment its got 131bhp and thats pretty quick so i imagine 160 it would fly!! |

I bet you could help, you could also help by paying traders fees to support the club.

Without a valid dyno printout, and a printout showing a stock car on the same dyno, I can't see how this map can be advertised on the forum as a 160bhp map. The stock printout should run around 129bhp give or take, I'd like to see a run on the same car producing the stock power and then this "160" number. You'd be surprised how much I could actually help if you stopped being vile to anyone who isn't one of the "T4" guys on this forum. There is no need for this kind of hostility. I'm currently sorting issues on a car and getting it back on the road, it was a car that a certain "expert" on this forum fitted and failed to put enough antifreeze in which resulted in the cam belt slipping and mashing valves. Yes I can help the guy out not a problem, why the comment about the dyno run again? I reckon I’m in a far better position to comment on this thread being a paid up trader than someone sniping our business. Pay your traders fees or don’t try and be a snidey seller. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you can come to the 2nd nano meet this year (I can't make the first one as I'm away and its the first I've missed in years) we can have a comparison of the maps and discuss in person. |
