Default Air bag warning light, do i need to disconnect the battery

Hi. My air bag light is on, and just wanted some reassurance before messing around with the connectors under the seat's. Crucially do I need to disconnect the battery and leave for 30 minutes before i separate the under seat connectors to clean etc, or is fine to do if the iginition has just been left off for 30 minutes. All the very best for any advice,
Johnny

Some say ignition off for 10 mins, other's say disconnect the battery 30 mins before. Always best going on the side of caution.

Thanks for the replies. In the end i didn't disconnect the battery but left the ignition off before attempting. anything for ½ an hour . I've unplugged the connectors, cleaned and jiggled them around to no success unfortunately. I also took the air bag fuse out and left it out for an hour hoping it might reset everything but again to no joy. I didn't have any cable ties to wrap the under seat connectors as I've noticed the seat tensioner connectors seem very loose even when fully connected up. I'll try this tomorrow hopefully. My ex brother in law also connected his diagnostic reader to the car but we soon discovered it didn't cater for rovers. So failing all this i suppose its going to be a trip to Jules for a T4 to narrow down the issue. There is a small change though now in how the warning light comes on. Before i started messing around with it, it would come on and stay on. Now after a bit of tinkering, it comes on, goes off then comes on again. I don't know what this means, but I've obviously done something to affect it's behaviour.
Away thanks again for the replies, even though i foolishly ingnored them and will keep you updated for my progress (or not)
All the best,
Johnny

Yeah, the seat belt pre tensioner wiring etc can cause the light just as much as the airbag. Best advice is whatever you do to the airbag wiring/connectors do the same with the seat belt pre tensioner wiring/connectors. I ended up eliminating the connectors altogether instead going for the solder/heat shrink option but added about 6" of wire to the tight wiring.

I know this advice comes up regularly - to wait 30 minutes etc - but has anyone actually ever set off the airbag? (I'd better confess that I've never bothered, but maybe I have a guardian angel).
