"Crofts" Door finishers.... Still available ?
Its never a good idea having a morning off.....I tend to spend all the time reading and thinking about new things for the Rover.
I followed a thread this morning about "door finishers" and started reading and reading....and came across the "Crofts" door finishers. Does anyone know if they are still available, I came to a sort of dead end on whether anyone has stock of them ? I have put a bid in for a set (from a link here) on ebay for what I think was the new price but, have a feeing I will soon be outbid, any other sources for a set would be really welcome. They certainly add a lovely touch to the car.... |

No these are now finished.
There were I believe three batches done but it was always difficult to get the minimum order fulfilled each time and collect the payments. They do appear on EBay and For Sale section but at two to three times the original cost!! |

There's also a set of the Crofts ones on ebay. I'll try and get a link.

I assume Croft's still have the tooling, what would be a minimum production run? would there be enough interest in these within the club?
Are these a feature of the Chinese cars? Where do you start to get this info? Cheers Mike |

I wish I had them when Crofts did them last, they were a good price, not like the silly money ask for today. I doubt Crofts would do anymore the club struggled to get minimum required of 50 then.

Crofts is a member of our club, he saw the sky high prices being paid on ebay for the door finishers. He bid on a set of original finishers on ebay eventually securing them for well over £100. He then took them to a metal fabricator who, after much adaptation managed to create a brass equivilent. he then found a place that would chrome them. At the end of all this work he offered them to members of the club at cost price, around £40 per set. the batches had to be done lots of 50 to obtain this cost. I believe it total there have been 4 or 5 batches of 50 done and all but a few ( some sold on .org) sold to members of this club. Originally it was disapointing to see club members sell these on for profit to some, but as the ownership of them has diversified it is now just the norm. They are a very good quality product that will no doubt outlive the original.
