Cd speaker problem
Occasionally, I only get the sound from the speakers out of the left hand speakers when playing CDs, but get full audio when playing the radio and cassette player. Any assistance would be most helpful. Regards WantageBlue 1

Hello John,
You've been a member for four years and not had a problem until now? Wow! Have you got a CD changer or a single slot incorporated in the head unit? Simon

I had exactly this problem recently.
I checked all the connections at the changer, unplugged and plugged back in with no difference. I found if I pressed down on the coin slot above the stereo the RHS would come back. Removed the stereo and surround (very easy when you know how) and checked all the connections. Didn't actually do anything other than unplug and reconnect them all, but it has worked. Try it. My radio was fine out of both sides too. Just make sure you have the stereo code first if it has not been de-coded. |

Cd audio problem.....still
Hi Simon, A very belated thank you for your assistance in the above......either things he taken precedence, like grandchildren etc. Recently I bought another cd changer, hoping problem was with the existing one.....but surprise, surprise, the fault has reoccurred, i.e. Audio only from left speakers when playing cd's. Any other further tips to try to get me into fully audio mode would be greatly appreciated. Regards, John Callaway

Process of elimination John. From the info you have given I would say the wiring from the head unit to the speakers is ok. So the problem may lie with a broken/loose wire between the changer and the head unit or a problem with the connector inside the head unit.
If you can get to both ends of the wiring from the changer to the head unit, use a multimeter to see if the wiring is ok. If the problem lies within the head unit you may need to open that up to get at it to re-solder etc. I have two hi-line heads, one shows Tape Error with every tape I put in, so I replaced that with a spare I got from a member and on that one the buttons used for entering the address into satnav and the volume control, are very sticky and need cleaning. On these units the bolts I need to remove are M2x6. Problem is some are countersunk into aluminium. They will not shift so I'm considering drilling them out. I went to the local shops looking for replacements but they are too small for them to stock. Long story short I found the ones I need on a website called Modelfixings.co.uk. Make a note of this website if you have trouble taking very tiny bolts out and need replacements.
