Smelly, stinky air con

Hi guys

I got my air con regassed today but it stinks! It's the same smell I had last year before I stopped using it over winter. I'm not sure what it is or how to get rid of it. My pollen filter was changed last year but it did it even after then, I seem to remember. I've been told I can get air fresheners that cycle through the air con system but I want something that will fix it and not mask the problem. Many thanks.

When I took the car in today, I did tell the guy that I had a smelly air con last year and if they could attend to this also. The guy said to me I can buy one of those scent cans that cycle through the system. I did ask him if this fixes ir or masks the problem. He said it might do both.

I wasn't exactly convinced by this. I was tempted to drive away but my car was already in the work shop.

sounds like it wants draining, flushing and then regaling, just a guess mind Rav, I'm not that clued up on these things,

You need a bactericide treatment Ravinder, such as one of these. It's best applied directly to the evaporator for maximum effectiveness. I have this job on my list too.

I sprayed bleach onto the pollen filter and into the air vents after trying the antibacterial stuff in vain. Took a while for the bleach smell to go😕 but no more mangy smells though.

I did think about spraying the pollen filter with something to help combat the smell. I'll give this anti bacteria thing a go first and take it from there. May also just replace the pollen filter again too.
