Talking Leak On Radiator

Hi all,

I have discovered a small leak on my radiator and there is no way I going to get in to the garage until the new year, so as a temp fix could I plug it with some JB weld or JB putty?, I have been strongly advised not to use any kind of liquid rad seal by Rover specialists....

depends on where the leak is,difficult to get to the core of the radiator with putty.

don't put any additives in the system...only my opinion

K Seal is sworn at by some and sworn by others. Personally I am in the latter. There has been numerous threads on this subject with no real evidence either way. Everyone who is against it knows someone who knows of a car that has been seized by the stuff. Everyone for it knows of an engine that has been running the stuff since Adam learn't to drive. You pays your money and takes your chance. I know that doesn't help much, but that's the way it is.

I had a small leak in my 1.8T radiator over three years ago. I poured in some Bars Leaks and it cured it immediately and has been fine ever since.

You might expect them to say that with the prospect of a radiator sale!

Just stirring up the dilemma. Personally, I'm against sealants in most situations, but here, I'd use a sealant to get me going over Christmas. Later, I'd drain, flush out the gloop and replace the radiator when time permits.
