eBay payments
It now appear that eBay will no longer be using PayPal as a means of payment. They now, or in future, will use your bank account directly.😎

eBay says it's moving from PayPal to Adyen in order to “improve its customer experience” by intermediating payments on its marketplace. “In doing so, eBay will manage the payments flow, simplifying the end-to-end experience for buyers and sellers,” the company said in a statement.
Also: First, PayPal is not going away on eBay. It will still be one of many other payment options available on the site even after the changes are in place. In fact, many buyers might still prefer to use PayPal as it has emerged to be a very important payment method in ecommerce, right alongside Visa and MasterCard. Also eBay users will continue to have the option of using PayPal until 2023, but it will effectively be relegated to “second-class status”. |

It's like any participant in payment processing you have to get at least some customers on board who have the potential to provide masses of transaction volume. to do that you have to offer such customers prices that are below cost. Ebay are taking advantage of that by adopting a newish processor. It's exactly how Paypal got into the market and gradually established.
Trouble is that these days the market is full of all sorts of companies trying to make a buck on the back of payment processing and the competition is driving prices for high volume businesses with clout to silly levels. In turn that means, that to have any hope of making a profit the processors have to charge very high prices to smaller businesses, with low volumes, thus adding to the unequal disparity between small and large enterprises.

Clump of earth with grass on it, I'm going to cash on collection or post me a good old cheque and I'll send the item once it clears. Perhaps I'll allow faster payments (direct bank transfer) as well. Sick of being skimmed twice by Ebay/Paypal whenever selling anything. In the old days when you put a classified ad in the paper it cost per line of text, not for how much you were selling something for. Someone came and bought it for what you wanted for it (or near enough). Or it didn't sell (a rare occurrence) what does Ebay/Paypal really add? The possibly perfect car/bike at the other end of the country that you've got no chance of looking at before buying? Sucked the life out of local classifieds so you can't find anything local....
