Default ABS Problem

Well I will give you an update to the problem I am having with the ABS.

Firstly I have stripped and cleaned all the NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- from the back plates of the rear brakes and reassembled them. did the static test, Ignition on ABS light goes out(which it did before)Went for a drive and the light did not come and so I thought Cured....I did about 2 miles and the light stayed out. But when I reached 50 MPH the ABS light came on. Stopped switched off and did the static test again, light out OK, started off and after about 3/4 of a mile, the light came back on again at about 30 MPH....It never comes on as soon as you start moving as I would have thought it would if it was a sensor fault.

So has any of the brainy ones on here have any suggestions ??? Please

the wheel bearing needs replacing the corrosion on the back plate will have damaged the exitor ring on the rear of the bearing ,

Andy is correct typical symptoms of reluctor ring corrosion, seen it on lots of different vehicles it becomes very obvious when you’re just live scoping whilst the car is being driven, as the wheel speed sensors start producing inaccurate measurements and that shows up on live scope graphing

Hi AndyI have just changed the wheel bearing,Because the cage holding the bearings apart had broken up so it may be the other side which is the problem..

Mick
Well, it certainly appears to be speed related, If I drive at less than 50 MPH I can go for 6,7, miles without the warning light coming on. If I exceed that speed within 1/2 a mile the warning light appears and stays on..So the next step is to swap the other wheel bearing over and see what happens This is referring to the rear wheels as these were the ones that appear to have the problem of crud on the back plates.
