This could be a strong contender - https://www.frost.co.uk/por15-stirling-silver-946ml/ (scroll down for other colours).

I would say that colour doesn't matter where it can't be seen. As long as it's doing a good job.---

That is true. Nice to keep it as close to the factory scheme as possible though.

Possibly to keep the mechanic who is stripping down the car happy in his work.--------

Default Can you paint underseal?

The problem I've got at the moment is the factory painted the whole wheel arch (in this case silver) but the upper half of the arch has factory underseal on top of the paint.

So the question is, can I paint on top of the factory underseal? I have no idea if the paint will stick to it or not. I don't fancy trying to strip the underseal off because it's likely to end in a real mess.

NB. I'm taking all the rusty spot-weld surfaces back to bare metal but they've got no underseal on because they're all in the lower half of the arch. The factory didn't bother undersealing the lower half of the arches.

PS. There's no rust in the top half of the arch - the undersealed half!

If they'd undersealed the whole thing, there'd be no rust at all.

If where you have underseal and it's sound I guess it might be a bad idea to try and remove it.

Painting over it would probably add to its effectiveness.--

The underseal in the arches is very sound indeed, it's as good as the day it was put on. I suppose there's only one way to find out if paint will stick to it. (I've given it a darned good wash!)
