Simon
Unfortunately there have been quite a few instances of Kenlowe fan failure on the forum over the last few years, most seem to be related to worn out bearings rather than complete failure, although I have to say mine still seems fine after almost 3 years.

Simon, thanks for the reply.

I am going from memory about the gold resistor, perhaps it is not wired in or I have just imagined it!!

Having taken just the grill off it is definitely a Kenlowe fan however. I will need to take the front end off to check further.

I did follow the instructions when the system was refilled, on experience with other cars I guess we would have noticed something after 18 months of use if there was any air in the system?

Are there any other checked to test the fan before going in deeper?

If I was in your shoes Simon I would by-pass the diesel's PCB and energise the relays directly. That should confirm or rule out motor failure. According to a diagram I have, the Kenlowe motor connections are:
  • Black = earth
  • Grey = low speed
  • Brown = high speed

PCB failure is a possibility with the diesel, and I believe that the fan might be inhibited if the air conditioning refrigerant charge is too low.

sorry Simon, what is the pcb? The Aircon seems to function properly, in that it produces cold air.

The Printed Circuit Board which resides in the original MGR control box. Is your Kenlowe motor wired via that?

Many thanks for the replies, I have tested the fan and it does not work with a direct current applied so another Kenlowe failure. I found the receipt from when it was fitted, May 2012, not good really, so agree that the quality of Kenlowe has deteriorated. I have ordered a replacement from Jules.

I assume you will not be replacing it with another Kenlowe?

An update to this thread.

I ordered a Revotec fan from Jules. Last night I took the front end of the car apart and got the fan ready to offer up to the cowling. The brackets supplied caused me a few problems and I had to take the fan unit off again and refit it. It needs to sit as tight as possible in the cowl or the unit fouls on the slam panel and crash bar.

I was most worried about getting the wiring wrong but it was actually really straight forward. I was able to test it was working and then wire it up properly.

Everything is now back together and the fan operates as it should.

Many thanks for the help with this it is much appreciated.
