Default My Fuel Burning Heater Retrofit

Made a start on fitting my fuel burning heater today I've only fitted the pump and connected up the FBH heater for now. Just waiting for my PCB to come back from Frenchmike after he repaired it Thanks Mike!

Next I'll be wiring up the relays I've bought so I can turn on the FBH and interior heater controls by text

The FBH was a bit dirty on the outside and wouldn't clean up, so I decided to paint it with some heat proof silver paint. Make it look a bit more fresh. Also took it apart and gave the whole thing a clean.

Prep for painting:

After:

The pump and bracket was in a right old state, surprised it didnt crumble away in my hand. So sanded that down and painted it too. Hopefully will prevent it from rusting so bad again .

And here it is, fitted

Pump:

One thing I'd just like to check, have I connected the pump the right way around? There's a thick pipe connected to the right hand side of the pic above, and the thinner black plastic pipe is connected the left side.

Thanks

Cheers Tony hopefully I can get that all fitted and working next weekend. Just so busy at the moment, too much to do and the poor weather isn't helping either!

if you are turning round the pump, do you have to worry about air getting in the fuel line when you disconnect both ends of the fuel line tubes?

I ask because I have a proper rubber bracket to fit rather than the cable ties I am using currently, and wanted to know if it is as simple as pop a bulldog clip on one end close to the pump, pull it off, slip the rubber loop of the bracket over the pump and bolt it up to the car, then put the fuel line back on the pump? The amount of air introduced by this will be small I imagine, but will it mess things up?

If your fuel pump is in good working order and there is fuel getting to it it will sort itself out....................Tom.
