Default Symphony retrofit possible?

Hi all

I've a cd80 fitted to my mk2 and I don't like the look in the dash.
Is a symphony head unit a straight swap and how easy/difficult is it to retrofit a cd changer in the glove box?

Thanks in advance

Willie

I would imagine it's a fairly simple task physically speaking & electrically too as long as you have the right connecting leads to hand.
Someone more knowledgeable will specify the leads for you.

Here is a How To on changing the CD80 for a Symphony.

http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=18044

This is the missing picture.

The CD changer will require a lead with a blue mini ISO plug that connects to back of the Symphony.

The loose wire in the center is the K Bus wire that you must connect to the K Bus circuit of your car.

The above is a long lead for installing the changer in the boot area.

That's brilliant, thank you.

Doesn't look too hard to do so I think that's the way I'm going

The CD80 to Symphony is plug and play.

The Symphony will work fine as soon as you connect the grey and brown ISO plugs and then press the on/volume knob. [No ignition necessary as the Symphony will work for 20 mins without the ignition key].
Make sure you cut the red/green wire to pin 1 on the grey ISO plug as your Symphony sound will intermittently cut out and the display will show TELEPHONE.

You can later connect the steering wheel control wires and later still connect CD player.
