I too found my missing drain tube when I removed the liner.
It was probably pushed through when someone tried to unblock it.
I also found a tampon (still wrapped!) in there.

Question Rust

Above is TC's post 3 pic showing the upper and lower drain tubes.

Rainwater appears to travel from the upper plenum chambers to the lower plenum chambers down the outside of the tubes. That causes the upper surface of the metal around the exit holes to rust (you can feel it if you stick your finger in) - if it's not sorted out it's going to eat through floors of the chambers.

Here's the LH tube on my car (I've pulled it downwards).

.. and the RH tube (I've pushed it upwards). Note the drip. The upper surface of the metal around this hole is completely soaked, probably for most of every autumn & winter. Next time it rains have a look at yours from under the car.

Is there a way of stopping water running down the outside of the upper tubes and soaking the lower chambers?

NB. As far as I know the RH upper tube is directly under the brake servo and can't be accessed without taking the servo out - or by taking the plenum closing panels off.*

*The closing panels don't come off without taking the soundproofing off. The longest piece of soundproofing doesn't come off unless you either cut it or disconnect the hoses that run through the hole in it.

Presumably, silicone sealant put into the rubber rings that are supposed seal it to the plenum floor would do that. However, how to access those seals is - as you say - almost impossible. I suppose come next summer, you could flood around the driverside drain with Capitan Tulley's Creepy Crawly Cure and hope it dries off in the right places?

Tolley's might work TC but all the metalwork needs to be completely dry (which it isn't). Drat! - I was hoping to sort it out now while I've got good access under the car (no gearbox, driveshafts, rack, subframe etc, etc.).

Try flooding the plenum floor area with K-Seal, it seems to block up everything.else.

Or I could blast Dynax S50 in there - trouble is it'll come flying out somewhere else and cover everything in a sticky brown mess. The cans are apparently 70psi!

K-Seal blocks up holes filled with water. There's a filtration effect involved, so the particles bung up the leaks. It's what I'd try at this end of the year.
