Note that I always use a 5A fuse in the +ve lead close to the battery terminal
That is excellent info, thank you very much, in the end it was obvious, I attached the eyelets to the extending tightening bolt on both clamps, using a small thin nut to secure, works very well.

I have an MGF that doesn't get much use and I use a similar smart charger to a CTEK (Battery Tender brand). It helps stop the clock, radio memory, alarm etc. from running the battery flat over time, and works very well. The charge is at a very low level so the worries that were common with older high amperage chargers no longer apply. I have the permanent lead adaptor attached to the bolts that clamp the terminals onto the battery (As the OP has done). When I am not using the car I plug it into the charger harness. Very convenient and no worry of shorting alligator clips on the bonnet or whatever.

One thing, When you plug the car into the charger position the plug outside of the car or plug it in such a way that if you forget to unplug before driving away it will just unplug itself without doing any damage. It is almost inevitable that this will happen! (Trust me!)
