Anyone north east based........
.......any good with two strokes? I have a problem with my hedge cutter. Started losing revs, then cutting out. It has had two people look at it, one a supposed 2 stroke expert, but it is no different to what it was prior to them supposedly fixing it. It starts, then runs for about 10 minutes or so, then just starts dying and cuts out. It has had a new fuel line fitted, new petrol, mixture set correctly, carb cleaned out including the jets, but is no different to what it was prior to booking it in for repair. Can anyone help? It cost me 90 quid new about 3/4 years ago, and so far I have paid £50 in repairs for nothing .

You would have thought the two who looked at it would check that The 2 stroke'expert" is supposed to have spent half an hour using it to cut his own hedge without any trouble

Run it until it dies, then open the gas cap. If you hear a hiss and/or it starts after replacing the gas cap, it is a vent problem. Coils do fail. When they start to fail they will run the engine fine until they get hot, then not make enough spark. After cooling they will work for another little while. Checking spark on a cold coil is a waste of time. Good luck, Glenn
