Its funny how tastes differ, I have always liked crowns I don't have them but would not be worried if those fitted were crowns. I also looked at the serpents but decided against as cleaning must be a real pain. Still a bit tempted though

Ooh! I love my unions - couldn't wait until I changed to them - they are just as bad to clean, but I suppose if you clean semi-regularly and don't let the deposits build up - then use wonder-wheels it is not too bad.

Halfords alloy cleaner does a good job on the brown stuff left after cleaning dirty alloys, sometimes I use a little bit of scouring cream (like wot is found under the sink, alledgedly :-)).
I would love to change my crowns, I've worn out at leat one toothbrush now, but ebay always seems steep. Also, new rubber at the same time is off putting... |

T-Cut! Ok its a right royal pain of a job, but a cloth wrapped round a soft wooden stick or similar to get right into the corners does work, albeit long winded, and I find a coat of good polish or two after helps keep the brake dust from sticking so easier to keep clean in the future, just give them a coat of polish every now and again.

Halfords do a selection of brushes designed to help clean alloys. They get into the pokey bits and the pointy bits along with fitting inbetween the spokes to reach the inside of the rim. Coupled with a decent wheel-cleaning solution you should be flying...

Serpents should be no harder to clean than any of the other wheels Ken because it's easy to get a brush/sponge in. I got some new ones recently and very smart they are too.

It's odd because I like both 17" Meteors 18" Straights & 15" crowns. Quote:

If one changed from 15” to 17” would that not change the speed ratio and the odometer reading?
