I'd just like to say a HUGE thank you to Keith and John for their work on my car today
Oh, and thanks for turning it into a milk float If anybody else is contemplating the same retrofit, if you haven't already got the cables pre-installed then think very carefully This job took the 3 of us working more or less constantly, from 10:00am until 4:30 PM to complete and involved taking BOTH front doors off along with sundry other stripping out of the interior. I personally am as pleased as punch with the results but it's not a job to be taken on lightly I think. As a bonus, the terminals used on the parking heater mod can be attached to the additional wiring and fit perfectly in the switch block connector so the wiring up is certainly the easiest part of the job. Thanks once again to Karen for her hospitality. We were treated to lunch and were never without a coffee. She is a star From something Keith said, I suspect a new caption competition may be in the offing |

Rich
Pull the master switch out and look at the larger of the two connectors if it is fully populated then the cables are there This job was a pig due mainly to the fact some more daylight would have been useful to have allowed more time for running the cable from one door to the other. We were lucky everything worked first time as by the time we were finished the light was going. |

Quick How To
Don't do it
OK do it like this Remove door cards Remove Speaker Remove water shields Remove existing mirrors Remove Doors (cant get at multi plug whilst fitted) Remove dash trim sufficient to extract huge grommets and door multi plugs Run 2 cables from and through one grommet to the other with loads of spare at each end Feed spare through door conduit into doors Refit doors (need several hands) Wire up mirrors to switch Test Reassemble everything Test Go for drive in V8 to get de stressed Send everyone home! |
