ECU Reset?
Hi there, I was wondering if there is such a thing as a 'ECU Reset' on our Rovers?
I know on Toyotas you can, what you do is get the engine up to operating temperature and then after switching off you remove the ECU Fuse for 2 minutes and then replace it. This is done if you have altered the Exhaust or Induction etc. Is there any such process for the Rover 75 petrols? Thanks in advance.

Yup. Disconnect the battery for 30 mins.
I reset mine every couple of thousand miles - seems to drive better afterwards.

The official advice is to drive it under varying conditions for a few hundred miles afterwards so it 're-learns' it optimal engine settings. It may run a little rough straight after the reset.

everytime you disconnect the battery you reset the ecm . the ecm is then in learn mode and will watch and monitor the systems.

I have the Radio Code, but what about the Alarm, anything special there? Or anything else for that matter?

With previous cars, rather than disconnect the battery and wait anywhere from 30 mins to 12 hours, I've used the method of disconnecting the earth/-ve battery cable, and touching this to the +ve battery cable (Which is still connected to the battery). Can't remember who told me about it, or when, but always seems to do the trick, and is pretty much instant.
Is there any reason I shouldn't be doing this with my 75?. Cheers, Swanny

Well, did a 'Reset' as mentioned above, disconnecting battery for 30 odd minutes.
All seemed to work afterwards. It did take quite a few turns before 'firing' up but after that all was well. I have to say the power delivery is much smoother now, whereas before it sort of went through 'stages', and is starting quicker on the 'button'. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the tips.
