I believe Kaiser mentions some details on the stat he uses in his original dissertation on the housing project.

An easy search on this one.

Kaiser's is a Calorstat model, though which type isn't mentioned. The start point is 80C apparently. There's mixed opinions on it, it seems.

I have been provided with the answer

"The thermostat is a Calorstat, V6773,

it has a 67mm diameter,

the lower disk is 29mm and

the stroke of expansion is 10mm.

Distance from flange to lower disk is 35mm.

It is used on certain BMWs from the late 1990s."

Hi Mike
Yes the OEM will fit but David3087 reports overheating problems with it fitted into metal housing.

The 2 OEM inserts I fitted to Kaisers housings never gave me any feedback so I'll never know.

I found this site but it doesn't seem to help.

Calorstat website: http://www.calorstat.fr/CATALOGUE_PR...WEpWeHZjAAA?A8

Maybe the introductory message says something useful, but I don't read French. (??)

Search page here

When entering V6773 as the reference then 'starts with' or 'contains' or 'equals' and tick 'others' it comes back with Thermostat TH1528.80J, is this the right stat???

Malc.
