Airbag connection under steering column
THere are two connectors which plug under the steering column, a large white connector with a press down tab to remove, and a smaller yellow connector next to it.
Can someone tell me with eyes on or from a pic whether that yellow connector also has a tab on it for a thumb/finger, or just the locating lug which needs pressed down with a screwdriver to remove. I just want to know if someone has been in there before me (if something is snapped off then I will know for sure) Edit:- I see this thread, 10th pic down is what I need, but its blurry!! https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...d.php?t=196928 Please DELETE, Found an image online, I am good!! After I went out to my bag of wires with connectors attached, I found what I think is the one you are referring to, I also noticed that you asked for the post to be deleted as you had found a pic on line, but maybe it is best to leave the post, it may help someone else in the future 1 2

Nice one Arctic. So they made that specific connector more hassle to remove than just pressing a lock tab. Good to know, Im confident no-one has been in and bodged anything on my column. 1) RHD columns are NO longer available new. 2) I just checked the cheap LHDs, and the orientation to the RHD on the splines (angle of UJ compared to marker on wheel boss) is 100% the same. 3) Only difference is that the alloy casting on the one that came off my car was nice and shiny and dark grey with no corrosion, whereas the old stock LHDs I picked up were plain alloy, and start to corrode which is a shame. What the difference between the later LHD column and the earlier is a mystery, but as far as I can see the LHD is IDENTICAL to the RHD aside from the coloured collar, and the rubber gaitor at the end. I think it was rich who said that his orientation was off, but all the columns Ive checked are aligned the same as my RHD detailed above. |
