i wonder how many members have there engine light flicker and assume its cos of the bypass?they may have another problem.at the end of the day the egr is there for a reason ,without it the car aint performing as it was designed to do ..

No Chrissyboy, it is performing better without the EGR...Did 34,000 miles in mine from new with the EGR bypass fitted at 6000 miles...no problems whatsoever and mine was a MK2....no MIL problems. JohnDotcom has done about three or four times my mileage with no issues. Lots of people on here have this mod and have had no issues at all over the last four / five years. Mine passed the emissions test with flying colours, ran better and no damage to the engine. The EGR is not a problem in itself...other than restricting airflow....until it starts to clog up and restrict airflow even more! And they ALL clog up..

I would add that having the air intake mod and a RoverRon box alongside the EGR bypass conspired to make for a very very quick diesel....EGR bypass alone will not add much Bhp but when combined with the other two mods it makes a real difference as to how the engine 'breathes'. If I had another Cdti, new or second-hand, I would do all three mods immediately.

I have a bluetooth OBD2 unit so if i ever get a flickering light i can find the reason. To be honest the way the sensor system is set up on this engine an EGR fault shouldn't show up anyway. Thats why its best removed.

Just because something is designed for a purpose it doesnt mean there arent unforeseen consequences. One example is the diff bearing in the Honda PG-1 gearbox in the rover T series turbos. They used nylon cages for the ball bearings. They were cheaper but also quiet. Steel cage bearings were a bit noisy on that box. The unforeseen consequence was they wore out quickly due to loading from the Torsen diff and failed.. the result was your drive shafts fell out!

Just because you say something is a fact, doesn't make it so.

Sure, my car may produce more NOx than before, but it also performs better.

no my trianing is based on facts and not wannabe mechanics

like i said you only going on the small amount of cars on here that have been looked after .the bigger picture is that there are diesel engines that have hgf ,as for my triainning it is being taught by the BEST in the country
