Let me get home and I will try and measure that and let you know. I found the hole position myself by removing the plenum cover, stuck a long dowel in the drain hole such that it protruded up and then taped reference markers at 12 o'clock, 3, 6 and 9 - replaced the plenum cover and used the tape to figure out the centre. Not very precise perhaps but it works

I'll let you know.

Wot , except I used a straight edge and a pencil, rather than tape

Simonarius has suggested pulling out this bung so there is never a chance of the plenum filling up with water I can't see anything wrong with the idea myself apart from a slight possibility of engine smells

brilliant...!
presumably you could adapt a rubber thing (like the plenum drains themselves - used the other way round.. or something like that) to channel water out and down through 90degrees rather than onto any electrics like that trinary switch...

Hmm...a bit like the plug and overflow in the bathtub. Water would have to get a quarter to half an inch deep I guess to overflow. Would it create a false sense of security about the plenum drains? i.e. you wouldn't bother checking them unless water was overflowing?

If the plenum drains got blocked with leaf debris, I could envisage any additional leaves floating across the resultant pool of water, reaching the overflow and blocking it. But we could drill a hole in the bulkhead and the dash to spy through and check the overflow from the comfort of the driver's seat. It could be fitted with a chrome bezel to contrast with the wood. Another hole cut slightly higher could act as a backup overflow - - which would need its own peep hole somewhere in the err...:xmas-smiley-016:

PS: Thanks Christopher for the measurement.

Funny you should say that, my spyhole bung is chrome. How sad does that make me!

yes, this is a rubbish idea.
what about.. grinding the hole a bit lower so it properly drains from the lowest point - and then a siliconed on little reservoir - say 1 inch square and 2 or 3 deep) beneath it so you can periodically see if anything has been coming out?

Is there any possibility of a tool that one can poke in through the said hole and probe/unblock the invisible drainhole..i.e. like a right angle bit of wire? havent looked into it yet, so cant visualise further...

......... The how to on the club site says to remove just the two n/s clips but I would advise taking a third off also. This is because for me the third popped off into the ether as I was removing the drain cover Fortunately it pinged across the engine bay and landed on top of the radiator so was recoverable.

Job took 15 minutes as the drain point was completely clear, as were the side drains that I checked at the same time.

The cover doesn't come off mine without the third clip being undone.

Who designed these b****y clips anyway? Some sort of raving lunatic?

The scrivet thingies are rubbish too - try unscrewing them and either:

a) The whole thing turns
b) Nothing turns
c) Some idiot has already chewed up the plastic slots, or
d) The screw part undoes then flies off and disappears forever underneath the brake servo.

What the hell is wrong with bolts!

What diameter is the hole Chris - 2.5cm?
Did you use a tank cutter?
