Waste of a day.
Like some members who have driven miles to buy a motor, today I drove 150 miles to view a Vanroyce caravan, advertised as in very good condition, only to find its a shed being sold by a dealer, who in all our dealings with him on the phone and the extensive blurb in the advert failed to mention this fact.

Been there, not only car adverts that aren't upfront with the truth. Went to see a caravan described as 'mint condition' only to find holes in the wall (punched??) to be told, "If you fold this door back you can't see them." Unbelievable.

It drives you mad doesn't it. They won't be honest with you because they hope you will just buy it anyway after all that travelling.

I should have known it was going to be a wasted journey when the day started off badly. I popped in the bank to pay in a cheque and asked the guy if I could draw the amount needed for the caravan on my credit card.
That's an expensive way of doing it, he says. Let me see if we can do it a cheaper way. Sounds good I thought. So made an appointment to discuss my needs for 2 O'clock, which kinda put me behind for driving to Cambridgeshire, but thought if it saves me a few quid it could be worth it.. the upshot was that they could do me a loan at, wait for it, 23.9% apr, which was less than 1% lower than the credit card rate for cash withdrawals .Needless to say I declined their kind offer. Its a pity they don't use the same machine to work out the interest on your savings. |
