Default Rover 75 2.5 v6 auto - original restoration project

Acquired this little example this week!

She's a Zircon Silver 1999 177bhp Automatic 2.5 V6 Auto Connie SE with personal line Neptune interior, sunroof, cruise control, highline sat nav system, full wood dash and wheel along with a full set of 17 inch serpents and is exactly as should be as long before project drive started taking the best bits off these cars.

Needs a lot of work but I needed another project after my other silver car turned out to be a financial wipeout waiting to happen and went for parts saving at least 8 other cars mind you.

What a lovely spec. Very nice indeed. I guess you will paint black the lower section of the front bumper to match the sills? I love that early Cowley look. Often wondered about doing a high spec Cowley look tourer.

Read my tourer thread for my interpretation of one!

Im going to get some original cowley mum zircon front, rear bumpers and a boot lid also to match and if im honest thats all the bodywork needs. Test will be interior minor stuff, its all mechanical with this car but I need a challenge!

Could your car be one if the rare silver dealer launch cars? I'm sure I read somewhere that there were a few silver ones too. It certainly matches dealer launch specification.

Reebs kindly found this out for me!

SARR********121065 which is a later Cowley car missing from the database.

It's approximate build date based on the VIN sequence is much later than the launch cars. It's VIN falls between 9th & 14th September 2000, where the launch cars range from 12th April 1999 - 5th September 1999

Who knows whats been going on!

New bumpers and boot lid arrived, have repaired the washer jet system along with the head light washers.

Next job is an exhaust!

Looks like I've sourced an exhaust for the car now, it's a 190 setup but to be honest that's fine with me.

So next up is get that fitted and get the car up on jacks to work out the various warning light issues relating to abs, traction control etc.

Hoping it's just a sensor or two.

And why not pick up another one to help finish the other silver car, this is potentially the earliest know 75 in NI but sadly the engine has given up, with it being a v6 the fan failed which led to massive over heating has destroyed it and then K seal was put into her on bad advise from a mechanic, despite several flushes and other parts changed the car continously over heats.

It's so bad it boiled and konked out driving off the trailer and into my driveway. I checked the in dash temp it read 137 degrees......

So strip and save what I can, had contemplated saving it with the other car but I was given the other car in an inheritance on condition I restore it and it's got a much rarer spec also being Neptune etc.

Even my wife agrees this was a good idea, enough panels and parts for a while! And yes, that's 3 75's currently. Lol.

Had planned to strip it and sell the parts on the forum as a trader but frankly there's not as much "goods" on it as I hoped. When I started listing the parts off it I wanted it occurred to me I had really bought this whole car as a job lot of parts lol

Mind you this will donate rear subframe setup to my trailer project also, and hopefully I can not waste a drop of her.

Well the doner car is about 2/3s stripped now, and once she goes it will be full steam ahead on this one.

Nice to have a complete set of spare panels for the car now.

I've decided to make a couple of tweeks to the car.

At the front will be the "dark halogen" front lights and a chrome grill with black insert.

At the rear I've sourced a later zircon silver bottled without the huge rover badge on it so it's only got the Rover lettered plinth on it (with all locks swapped over etc).

Under my complete doner exhaust system from the other 2.5 is perfect and will be getting a full coat of black hammering to keep rust at bay.

After that the rest of the car will get the same such as calipers and so on.

Then it's just sort the abs leads, refurb the Serpents, fit tyres and mot her.

Aiming for August 2015 for this one and the new green one to be on the road.
