On my last car I got a quote from a former Rover dealer who still had the kit but wanted £1200 for the job. Got another from a specialist near Reading, an all in service package including belts, pump, water with anti-freeze, oil and filter, plus pollen filter, £900.

If all you need is a belt change I suggest you contact Shiner, I believe he has all the necessary tools to do the job and as we all know, his prices are extremely reasonable.

By coincidence, following my last post I read this. Bit of a hike journey wise but you and Dawn could have a mini holiday and get possibly the cheapest belt change around at the moment.

I've delivered 3 cars to this guy and know the miracles he works with cars.

Not in Surrey but the money you'd save could help pay for an enjoyable trip and mini-break.

A very similar experience from my local former Rover dealer.
The quote was "at least a grand" , but they were not really interested.
I guess they are too busy selling Nissans these days.

From the history file on my car the last time they were changed was by an ex Rover main dealer, with a bill of £920.28 in 2008.

I had by belts changed in November. The main belt had been changed in the past, but the two back belts were almost certainly as fitted in the factory. They were very loose!

From this and previous experiences, I would not trust a main dealer further than I could kick them.

Genuinely I do not understand the difference between the kits you quote and those from DMGRS as used by the guy in Scotland, as DMGRS kits are a lot cheaper.

Yes I understand the risk of cheap kits from the bay or other sources but I'd really like to know pros and cons of buying from a club trader offering kits at a low price.
