Is that a realistic value? I would have thought it would have fetched more??

You can never tell with auctions, you might be lucky and if there is little or no interest you could get it for s bargain price. On the other hand two people with big cheque books could push it through the roof.

The only way you will know is to be there and play it cool when the auction starts. Don't place a bid until somebody else does and see what happens. If the auctioneer starts reducing the start price to get bidding going wait until the reserve price is hit and then bid.

The auction is just up the road from me. A friend of mine goes as often as he can to get cheapies to do up and sell on. Normal auctions are pretty quiet but if anything special comes in the hall is packed + phone and internet bidders. Top gear and wheeler dealers have got cars from there before Cant remember the wheeler dealers episode but the top gear one had several shots and puns about the sex shop next door
