Water pump gasket
Not 75/ZT but my MGF.
Just in the process of replacing belt, pump and tensioner. Is it advisable to apply some sort of sealer, in the groove of the water pump, along with the rubber seal that came with the pump or, is the rubber seal sufficient to do the job on its own.........you'd think it would be but......... What do you use as a sealer, Blue Hylomar or one of the other numerous products out there? Many thanks

I can't remember which motor it was on. I think it was my tf could be the 300 but I used a splodge of renzosil on the pump side only and let it set for a day once torqued up.
Some say yay some say nay but it keeps it in place whilst fitting so a necessary thing to do. I believe you shouldn't NEED sealer but for an in car repair needed to for above reason. Used renzosil because I had some and it's what holds the Kaiser stat on v6 together. |

blue hylomar will be just fine.thats what i use and dont have any issues from the rubber gasket.make sure to put a dob in the threads of the mounting bolts as well. the sealant that kayser uses is very strong but very very good.its used on porsche cylinder head sealing and may give you a shock as a small tube is mighty pricey !!
