Hi Andy,
I've got a new oxygen sensor coming from Mat at DMGRS, am I right in thinking that if this fixes the o2 fault the engine management light will go out automatically, or will it need resetting?
secondly, on the new car - 75 Connie SE 2.0 (131) CDTi - there is an airbag fault message that appears on the trafficmaster display on start up, but it goes out after a couple of seconds. Obviously not a major fault, but it's picking up something so where should I look to find the problem?
And finally, also on the diesel, there is a connector under the drivers seat that isn't connected to anything. It is a small black connector on the main wiring loom with three wires in it. One is black (earth) and I can't remember the two other colour combinations. It isn't the main black connector and the airbag and pre-tensioner connectors are in place. What could this one be for?

The SRS system alarm icon should also stay lit up if you are getting the airbag fault message flash up.

Is it coming on at all with key to position II as it should? Or is it coming on and going out because it has been piggy backed from another alarm icon?

Some people find it easier to black out or rewire the alarm than actually fix the fault.

Hi Mike, no srs system alarm, no idea about any piggy back as I've only had her a few days. I'm about to bring her to a better parking spot so I'll check the position II setting, although from memory it is only after starting the engine.
As for rewiring, I wouldn't know where to start at the moment. Learning as I go along

Right then, I turn the key to position two. No srs, shows 'glo plug on' followed by 'airbag fault', which then goes off like I said in op.
Rainy day here so I'm not doing anything except interior stuff, if that. Got lots of paperwork and budget updating to crack on with which will take a few hours so may leave the car till tomorrow.

With key to position II you should get the following icons: Oil pressure, battery charge, brake, SRS & ABS come on.

The ABS should then go out, followed by the SRS icon.

As stated, if the airbag fault message is coming up the SRS warning light should remain on, it is not uncommon for the warning light to be blanked off by less scrupulous owners/dealers, it has been discovered several times here. "Obviously not a major fault", it is a serious fault, what ever part of the system that is triggering the warning will not function in the event of a collision.

Sorry, didn't explain it properly.
The manual says if a warning light comes on and goes out, you can still drive the car to a garage to get it checked/fixed.
If a warning light comes on and stays on, leave the car where it is and get someone to come to it.
That's all I meant

Right then. I was telling you all what happens on the monitor, not the normal multi icon display. Please bear with me as I'm not a petrolhead who automatically knows what people are talking about.
So, the display below the monitor.....
abs, srs, engine, oil, battery and handbrake lights come on at position two.
srs light goes off probably about the same time as the 'glo plug on' and 'airbag fault' words are coming on and going off the monitor.
oil ( it says it needs an oil service and I agree with that), engine, battery and handbrake stay on.
Start the engine - all go out except the handbrake, which goes out when the handbrake is released.
Nothing remains showing while driving.

Thanks Mark. After reading your thread I'm thinking it may have been caused by a flooding issue, as there are blatant signs that this diesel has flooded at some point.
And yes, I have checked plenums and sunroof drains, all were clear and dry. I suspect defective windscreen trim at this moment for water ingress, which I am ready to sort out when the weather improves.
