Default Electric window mechanism- going up in stages

Hi folks,
just got my saloon back from brother in law, after lending it to him for 2 months.
Noticed the nsf window goes down ok, (with 1 button press) but only goes up 1/2", with each pull of the window switch.
I.e. I keep having to pull the switch up many times to get the window up fully.
It does this when operated via drivers or passenger switch pack.
Is this a faulty regulator, or is there anything else to check, (sticky relay..?).
Thanks.
Sean.

Have you tried cleaning and lubricating the runners? My thought is the motor may have a sensor that cuts lift if there's too much resistance.

Not yet Richard, but I'll probably give it a go next week.
I did try "assisting" the window, by lifting it as I operated the switch, but it didn't have any affect.

Any other words of advice on this, before I pull the door card off to have a look, at the weekend?
Thanks.

door card off should be a last resort. First try lubricating the rubbers with a silicone spray, next pull down the rubber carefully with the glass down, and reseat.

If none of that has worked, then take the door card off and check the anti trap sensor is not unplugged.

I have sorted my windows (ZT and previous cars) with the above, with the antitrap sensor becoming unplugged on the ZT due to me unplugging it when replacing the speakers and not reconnecting it

Hi, your regulator etc is on the way out, I made mine work for a while by lubing it up with silicone, in the end bought a second hand one and worked fine it's an easy job to do.

Thanks Alan.
Where does the anti-trap sensor plug into?
Is it on the switch mechanism?

My fault, I didn't notice that, and because I had problems with drivers side, I assumed. If same.

But the sensor plug comes down at the leading edge from the frame (on the drivers door)
