It seems fine.
Before all this fuel nonsense, check your coolant level twice a week - _if_ you get a leak, catching it early will save you much wonga and headache. In my manual 1.8T saloon with driving like yours I got ~34 MPG. Now I do mainly a-roads and motorway, I get 39MPG. And welcome to the forum! |

You can't judge fuel consumption like this. You need to brim the tank, then drive as far as you can before refilling to the brim again. Note the quantity of fuel required and the mileage covered and do the calculation. Simon.

I was told by my local Mg specialist today not to drive my ZT-T 1.8 under 1/4 of a tank it’s something to do with saddle tanks and the one draining before the other is this correct

That sounds quite heavy, if you work on £5 per gallon that gives you 15 mpg my 1.8 non turbo gets at least 30mpg and my 2.8 BMW gets round about the same so I would say you have a problem somewhere.

I'll go with that,i've done just over 240 miles today in my manual turbo. Mainly on the motorway (doing motorway speeds ),good A roads and a little town driving and it returned 37 mpg, which i'm quite happy with.
