Water leak in boot
 

as it hasnt rained that much since i got my car i hadnt noticed a water leak in the boot, i looked at the threads on here about leaking rear light seals so i replaced the seals this weekend thinking it might be that, so dryed the boot out of all the water (and under rear seats:mad:) and waited for some rain which of course it peed down half an hour later, i went back to check for leaks after work and to my horror i found this.....

after a closer look and some testing (locking my dad in the boot of the car with a torch while i sprayed the car with a hose:D) i found out that is comming through the bottom corner of the vent, i think it might be broken as its a very loose fit in one corner, also i was just wondering how to remove those vents? is it a bumper off job or do they just clip in?

darn!:mad: looks like i had 2 water leaks in the boot. 1 down 1 still to be solved, it looks like its coming in from the plate which has the 2 welded nuts for the boot lid hinge on the inside of the car!:shrug:

but would be great to solve it as my neighbers leaks in the same place and has fried his satnav system.:(

Check the rear window seal as well as the three-quarter light panels behind the rear doors as these are known areas of water ingress and can often find water running back into the boot space.

I am having this problem, just wondering why people are going to the trouble of removing the rear bumper, has any one has success fixing this leak by sealing it from the inside?

I’ve just had the vent problem and removed the metal frame to get better access the vent has clips on the top and bottom but the ones on the bottom of mine have bent and would not click back in which meant the corner was not sealed and water was getting in
I cleaned around where the area where the vent fits , cleaned up the rubber gasket that fits on the seal and applied some silicon before replacing it, clips went in at top no problem , to solve the bottom not sealing I placed a small piece of wood and a piece of rubber at the bottom so when I refitted the metal frame it forced the bottom of the vent back into place , so far so good
