Parking sensor wiring corrosion
So I’ve got it through it’s MOT and thought I’d tackle my parking sensor which hasn’t worked for ages. Got it all a part, put the new sensor and....still doesn’t work. Tried the new sensor in another position and confirmed that it isn’t the sensor at all but the wiring. After further investigation I found that the wires going into the connector on the loom are corroded. Anyone had this before? If so how have you tackled it? Is of a mind the try and clean up the corrosion.

When this happened to me i bought a loom off e-bay - just had a look and there are some on today.

Saying that - the example above is pricey - i got my loom for £30.00 about 2 years ago .

If you are talking about the three pin plugs that attach to the sensors I had corrosion here also some wires had detached .These plugs can be disassembled and pins removed and the wires cleaned up and reattached by soldering instead of the original crimping. To clean the wires up for soldering I had to soak the ends in a mixture of vinegar and salt for a few minutes otherwise the solder wouldn't take. I have also seen new plugs for sale on ebay.if you want to replace them.

Definitely had this before, about 10 years ago though :D

Thanks all, looks like its a known thing then. I'll try to clean them up and solder back
