a member kindly measured the collar of the intercooler and it measures 53/54mm. I think the 2" flexi pipe would do the job in keeping the joint in place and if there is any air gap it would compensate for it. I have ordered one and will report back when its fitted with a few pics.
Surely you are just adding yet another joint or have I missed the point?

There is no retention at the joint, it relies on the insertion force of the o rings. If you add a hose over the joint and secure one end on the intercooler collar and the other end on the elbow pipe you physically restrain the joint and in the process seal it.

Wouldn't putting a clip around the bottom pipe do the same job?

Jules had a how to to re-inforce the area which works well but the thought I had is that if the o rings deteriorate you loose a tight seal. The attached rough sketch is my thoughts.

I see your point, but I'd still rather get rid of the O rings, but please report back.

Same as but the cost and work involved in replacing the intercooler makes this worth a try. I'll get some pics and let you know how I get on.

I would be interested, however...

A - What sort of "small performance difference" are we talking? If I got 2-3 BHP out of it, probs worth it. 0.5 BHP, maybe not.

Plus, changing the intercooler isn't that easy! It involves removing the bumper, slam panel (so lights etc) and the fan (...ish - i got away just leaning it forward)

B - Price doesn't seem that attractive. A new one isn't cheap, but I bought a second hand intercooler for £40. Universal ones are £100-£150. £240 is a lot of cash, and "Buy-It-Now or Best Offer" implys they'd probably discount it anyway. Maybe if we could guarantee an order of 10 we'd get a better price?

C - They don't appear to of sold a single one (at least, their feedback doesn't say they have).

£240 - 15% = £204

EDIT - However, colour me interested.

Roverlink sell the same unit for £299 & OEM versions are almost twice that. I have been quoted £190 for 6-10 units, but if I get serious interest I might try again.
