![]() I think you misunderstood what I was saying. To put it another way, the actual motor is no better or worse than any other sunroof motor.
I am fortunate in that my friend runs a vehicle dismantling business, so when my motor burned out within a week of owning the car, he set me loose in his yard to find a replacement. Unfortunately of several 75,s in his yard, none had a sunroof , and although there were beemers with one, none were obvious how I could remove the motor quickly without doing damage. I chose to search for alternatives, and discovered that many were by the same manufacturer, and very similar in design. My only difficulty was finding one with the identical witting connections. Which I found in a VW Golf mk4. The Golf motor differed in the way it attached to the control assembly, but the casting was otherwise identical so that the MG control board fitted straight into the VW casting. Have I got a sunroof?? Not sure I understand, obviously I have, I have just said so, otherwise I wouldn't be replacing motors! Actually, if it's important, I also have three more sunroofs, only one of which has ever given trouble, but in that event it was severe corrosion due to water ingress, although after a good clean it has worked perfectly ever since.
